I have drawn like this for years and never knew what I drew had a name. I am so hooked. I get good ideas with the patterns and am able to build on them..

I learned about "zentangle" recently and I see that "zentangle" uses the NeoPopRealism' ink drawings concept. Artist Nadia Russ created this art form in 1989 --> http://www.nadiaruss.com .
Much later, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas introduced themselves as "inventors" of a "new" art form, created by Nadia Russ, this is Senseless. They created new term "zentangle". Also, they a bit simplified it, offering the patterns, making it more available to the general public. Probably, they want sell their Kits to as many people as possible... Any way, I do not believe it is an "innovation" to draw the art form that already invented by someone else on a particular size of paper they offer - 3 1/2x 3 1/2 inch. Any thoughts? You can enjoy the same drawing on 3"x3", or 3"x5", or 5"x5", or any other size of paper. Just get ink pen in any store and any blank piece of paper and draw line that turns into different shapes, then draw the repetitive patterns (circles, triangles, lines), filling the spaces. Use your imagination, relax your brain, get inspired. |
